5. DO NOT soak tattoo in the bath or go swimming until completely healed.
6. Bandaging tattoo at bedtime for the first 2-3 nights will help keep tattoo and bedding clean. Be sure to wash well in the morning.
7. If it scabs DO NOT pick it as this can cause scarring, or infection. Do not expose tattoo to sunlight or tanning bed for until completely healed. When healed, be sure to wear a strong sunscreen on it to help preserve color. For longest lasting color, do not expose tattoo to sun for 6 months.
If you are using Saniderm/Uberderm/Second Skin/ETC..
1. The first piece can be left on your new tattoo up to 24 hours. If you notice excessive weeping or fluid under the bandage, replace it with a new piece.
2. At the 24-hour mark, remove the bandage gently. Wash the tattoo area with a mild antibacterial soap and allow the area to dry. Once dry, apply a second sheet. This will stay on for up to 5 days and see you through the peeling stage.
Helpful Tips
-Never use a washcloth, loofah, or sponge to clean your tattoo. These can be painful to clean a new tattoo with andmay harbor bacteria.
-The best way to remove bandage is to find an edge of the bandage and then to pull it back over itself in the direction of hair growth. We suggest removing the bandage in a warm shower. The warm water will loosen the adhesive and make it easier to remove.
-Make sure that you properly apply the bandage (all edges are sealed) and leave at least 1 inch of buffer area around the tattoo.
-Rounding the corners before application will help reduce pulling or peeling of the adhesive edges.
